Online Shopping

Online shopping – A process in which images or listings of goods and services are viewed remotely via electronic means. Consumers go through to purchase products or services over the Internet. An online shop, e-shop, e-store, internet shop, web shop, web store, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks or mortar retailer or in a shopping mall.

Advantages:

It’s very easy. People can look for many items in just one click, without leaving the comforts of their home. They can compare prices from one shop to another without worrying about crowd and parking lots and traffic. It has endless selection of items can be found for men, women and children, with the price that is perfect for their budget. They order as many as  they want without worrying on how to transport them because online shopping websites, delivers items on the buyer’s home. It’s a great convenient for the very busy people, online shopping is open 24/7 and 365 days. For instance, Fendi Handbags has a lovely collection of bags available online. No need to race against your very busy schedule and not worrying about how long you’ll stand in line at the checkout counter. Online stores don’t have overhead expenses like rent, salesclerk etc, that’s why they are cheaper compared to the regular mall.

Disadvantages:

You have to buy the item relying purely on the photograph and description; you can’t inspect the quality and material that is used in the item. Sometimes it’s really hard to decide on buying an item based on the photograph alone. You have to pay extra payment for the shipping cost, if you purchased your item overseas, the cost of shipping might overshadow the purchased price. You still have to wait for the items you purchased to be shipped and to be delivered to you. If you purchased your item overseas, this could take several weeks before it can be delivered to you. If you happen to buy faulty goods, it will take weeks and sometimes even months to replace a faulty product bought online, you still have to repack it and of course pay another amount to ship the faulty goods back to the seller. It is very easy for people to get credit card information but many online stores are increasing security measures to protect their consumers. Computer security has become a major concern for merchants and e-commerce service providers, who deploy countermeasures such as firewalls and anti-virus soft wares to protect their networks.

Here are the ways that can protect us consumers every time we shop online:  Always stick to the known stores (these known stores have a good background in dealing with online shoppers). Find independent consumer reviews of the online store about their experience. Make sure that you can find comprehensive contact information on the website before using the service. Evaluate the websites whether there is a fair and reasonable refund and return policy is stated  and whether there are hidden price inflators such as  excessive shipping and handling charges. And most important is be very careful using passwords and personal contact information, ensuring that the retailer has an acceptable privacy policy posted. For example note if the retailer does not explicitly state that it will not share private information with others without consent.

Always compare the prices, check for discounts and lowest shipping taxes. Remember always make sure that the item you’ve found is very unique and more affordable compare to anywhere else!
